Program Directors

The Program Directors are responsible for co-ordinating a coherent body of research under their program. The responsibilities can be broken down as follows:

o Building the Program
Program Directors are responsible for attracting and inviting new Research Associates to their Programs, and for assessing applications by intending Research Associates before putting those applications to the Management Committee (comprising the Director, Deputy-Director and Program Directors of CAMA) which will make initial decisions. Those decisions will be confirmed at the annual board meeting.

o Contributions to Working Papers
The Program Director will attract suitable contributions for the CAMA Working Paper series from Research Associates in their Program. They will be responsible for vetting the quality of those Working Paper contributions.

o Annual Report on Activities
The Program Director will write a one page report on the activities of the Research Associates under the Program and how they contribute to a coherent body of research. This should include reference to any Working Papers published in the CAMA series by Research Associates in the Program. For a style example, consider the NBER annual report under the subheading of consumption.

o Meetings/Workshops/Conferences
The Program Director may organise meetings, workshops or Conferences under the auspices of CAMA with the permission of the Director or Deputy-Director. CAMA will have some funding with which to support such activities and these can be applied for directly to the Director and Deputy-Director. Applications for more than $10,000 support will need to be referred to the full CAMA Board.

Research Associates

An individual may nominate to become a Research Associate by application to the relevant Program Director including a CV and a statement of interest in the Program. Research Associates are responsible for remaining active participants in the Program. This may take the form of participation in debate, contributions to working papers, participation at Conferences, Workshops or Meetings. The advantage of becoming a Research Associate will be in establishing contacts and participating in a coherent research agenda, while retaining research independence. A Research Associate may submit a piece of work to become a CAMA working paper to the Program Director who will be responsible for approving or rejecting the content for the series.

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURES

In the event of a serious disagreement between two Research Associates the appropriate Program Director is the appropriate adjudicating authority. Where a Program Director is involved in the dispute the Deputy-Director or Director is the appropriate authority. In the event that these parties cannot resolve the dispute and/or the Deputy-Director or Director are involved the Board of CAMA will be the final authority. Information on ANU grievance procedures can be obtained at http://www.anu.edu.au/equity/grievproc.html, and will be followed accordingly.
